Byline: Dr Chandra Mohan I would like to begin with my high tribute to the great personality of esteemed Shaikh Ayaz whose most outstanding contribution the understanding and development of Language, Literature, Education and Society is admirably recognized not only in Pakistan but all over the world. This great event is appropriately organized in his memory, honour and also in tune with the U.N. Mission's highly proclaimed current year as an International Year of Languages. As such, the conference quite aptly focuses on the theme of extremely contemporary relevance entitled as "Unity in Diversity and Global Understanding through languages and literatures". At the very outset, I feel it as my privilege to warmly compliment eminent Professor Qasim Bughio, Dean Faculty of Arts and his illustrious team of colleagues who have come forward to accept the challenge in conceiving the idea and holding this conference at the historic premises of the University of Sindh, Jamshoro, Pakistan.
